Section 30 Turf Damage

Section 30 is currently undergoing turf renovation. Inclement weather has caused damage to an area surrounding the site of a recent burial and will be repaired as soon as weather conditions permit.

Annual turf renovation project begins at Arlington National Cemetery

August 2, 2010 - Approximately 50 acres of the cemetery’s grounds are scheduled to be treated, leveled and receive completely new turf grass as part of an annual turf renovation project at the cemetery.

This project began on Aug. 2 and the entire process takes four to eight weeks for completion. Visitors will notice that the grass in the areas being treated as part of this project will be very dry and brown in the initial stages of the project. Renovated areas this year will include burial sections 17, 18, 19, 22, 30, 36, 65, and the administration building grounds.

Turf renovation is an important aspect of maintaining the grounds at Arlington National Cemetery and takes place in addition to grounds work that takes place throughout the year and includes gravesite repair, sod placement and hydro-seeding.
