Funerals at Arlington National Cemetery continue to increase, in FY-03 the total was 6452; the single biggest increase was in cremation services. Cremation is now 61% of the total number with 3939 completed in FY-03. Not all cremated remains are placed in the columbarium as more and more families are choosing to bury their loved ones in ground as cremated remains. The daily average number of funerals is 26 per day.
